Join us for a celebration as we present the first of its kind virtual fundraiser for the Junior League of San Jose! The Derby horses may not run for the roses until September, but we are going ahead with our own version of the 146th Kentucky Derby on May 2, 2020.
The League depends on our annual fundraiser to support the leadership development of women and improve the lives of foster youth in our community. We are forging ahead because our community needs us more than ever.

Meet our JLSJ Derby Day Emcee – Chris Chmura
We are excited that NBC Bay Area’s Chris Chmura will be our Master of Ceremonies. Chris and NBC Bay Area have been long-time supporters of JLSJ.
Chris Chmura joined NBC Bay Area in April 2016 as Consumer Investigative Reporter. He leads their NBC Bay Area Responds team, which responds to consumer complaints and advocates on viewers’ behalf. His goal is to help consumers settle disputes — no matter how large or small; simple or complicated. Chris says he aims to empower viewers with knowledge that will make them savvy consumers. I bet Chris will help you make the perfect decisions on our Silent Auction items!
MEET OUR AUCTIONEER – ELLEN TOSCANO
Auctioneer, Ellen Toscano, has never been a stranger to the stage. After graduating with a BFA from New York University, Ellen performed for 10 years in San Francisco’s “Beach Blanket Babylon.” After leaving the iconic San Francisco institution in 2015, she began her work as a charity auctioneer combining her two biggest passions: performing and helping others.
She worked with the highly reputable bay area company Generosity Auctions for 4 years, before starting her own business. As an auctioneer, Ellen has raised millions of dollars for nonprofits throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Her unique style provides a fun, enthusiastic, and warm atmosphere to events focusing on gratitude and giving in profound ways to support incredible causes.
Known as “the singing auctioneer,” she’s even been known to bust out a song or two during an event! When she’s not on stage wearing her signature sequined outfits, Ellen is also a certified Reiki Master, Meditation teacher, and songwriter.
Meet our DJ’s – Soulmates
We have the amazing DJ duo Soulmates opening and closing out the show for Virtual Derby Day. They’ll help us get the party started at 3 pm!
See you at the Races!
