JLSJ STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO DOBBS V JACKSON WOMEN’S HEALTH ORGANIZATION
Social activist Mary Harriman founded the Junior League in 1901 to collaborate with and support the needs of her communities most struggling citizens. Our work has continued as we’ve supported marginalized communities for over 120 years and over 55 years here in the Junior League of San Jose.
On June 24, women across the United States had rights taken away with the overturning of Roe v Wade by the Supreme Court. While we may differ in our thoughts around the decision of the United States Supreme Court, we can all recognize that this is a monumental day in the lives of women and girls. The effects of this decision will be felt hardest in communities of color, LGBTQ+ communities, and those struggling to make ends meet.
