What is The Junior League of San Jose Endowment Fund ?
The Endowment Fund was established as a separate fund for the benefit of the Junior League of San Jose with the purpose of providing a perpetual source of funds. A gift to the Endowment Fund becomes part of a permanent investment, whose interest and dividends provide an ongoing source of financial support for JLSJ Community Program. Purpose
The purpose of the Endowment Fund is to strengthen and provide long-term financial stability to the Mission and Community Program of the Junior League of San Jose. JLSJ Community Program
Our Community Program Statement is as follows: The Junior League of San Jose works to help young children enter elementary school ready to learn and thrive. Our projects and other resources such as Done-In-A-Day are dedicated to making an impact toward our Community Program. Fund History
The Junior League of San Jose Endowment Fund was established in 1992 when a gift of $25,000 was given from the League’s General Fund in celebration of our 25th Anniversary. Our Fund has continued to grow and our current total is now over $725,000. We are working on a new campaign for League year 2007-08, “March to a Million.” Our goal is to reach $1,000,000 by 2010. The Endowment Fund Advisory Board (EFAB) would like to thank everyone who participated in the “40 for 40” campaign held in Fall 2006. Our goal was to raise $40,000 from our members and the community to be matched by $40,000 generously donated for this cause. The Campaign was a resounding success raising well over $100,000 (including matching funds)! Current Goals
In 2007-08, we kick off our March to a Million campaign with the goal of raising another $100,000 in donations to the Endowment Fund. The Endowment Fund provides Active League members, Sustainers, South Bay residents and businesses with a convenient way to contribute to the Junior League of San Jose year-round, whether or not they choose to participate in other League fundraising events. Tax Benefits & Savings

How are your donated dollars spent?
The Endowment Fund enables us to turn each dollar into many dollars. Your contribution becomes principle that is invested to create income. Only the income and dividends generated by our Endowment Fund investments will be disbursed to support the Junior League of San Jose’s Community Program. The Endowment Fund’s annual distribution ensures a yearly investment in the community and increases our opportunity for greater impact. A strong Endowment Fund enables our League to increase our annual distribution amount to help support our Community Program (which includes our projects, Done In A Day, etc.), encouraging our members to tackle tough issues and address under-funded areas of need.
